Quiet time

My baby boy and his swim...our little fish loved it!
The kids at the same age; 7 months. I forgot Jorja was so dark and had so much hair, and what a chubber!!

It's been a while again since I was here, some days when you have not much improvement, you just don't know what to say!! My White blood cells have continued to drop slowly and Dr. Wong and I think my body may be trying to fight some sort of infection which is kinda crazy as I have no immune system...good for trying though body!! :) He also increased my immunosuppressants at home a bit in hopes to try boosting them back up. Anyway, he is not saying that the treatment did not work and will not for at least a couple more months. I have decided to stop tracking my numbers so closely as I, like anyone else in this situation, have become a little obsessive about it...so, Scott took the kids this morning to the lake so I could rest and hopefully my body will get rid of whatever is going on in there. Great guy, I know but I really hate not spending time with the kids as the weekends are the only time to see them both all day. Mother's guilt sucks but my commitment now is to me; otherwise I am back in the hospital to do a harsher treatment if this one doesn't work. AA is such fun! I also found out that my brother is not a bone marrow match so they will be searching the registry to find me an unrelated donor. It takes a few months I guess but I still think this will work, once I get my numbers in control again...so I'm just trying to get some rest and eat better than I have been.
The whole family went to the neighbourhood outdoor pool last Sunday! It was the first time Rowen had ever been in water other than the bath and he of course LOVED it!! I took a ton of phone pictures because I forgot the damn camera, but only one turned out and he and Scott weren't looking anyway! Argh! But, both kids had a great time and I was soooo happy to be able to go because it was outside. We had a picnic and enjoyed the heat...Rowen and I headed home for our naps and Scott and Jorja came home later after they swam for a few more hours...Jorja was going off the slide by herself I guess and bouncing up and paddling to the wall! Where did these two little fish come from?!
A big shout out to my friend Shauna who organized a bunch of our book club to donate in a few weeks! Thank you so much ladies!! oxxo

Whew, it's hot!

Well, it's my baby boy's 3rd day at the dayhome...I'm sad about it but after going to Dr. Wong today and finding out my WBC have gone down a little again, I think it's time I started taking better care of myself...it's not that I don't do pretty well but I've become pretty lax some days and now am positive I have to start sleeping more and better, plus ALWAYS wearing my mask if I go out at all...we as a family have to be more regimented with the kids at home too. I don't really feel bad and it's good I don't have a fever or anything, otherwise I would have some infection and would probably be put back in the hospital for a few days. Yuck! So, it's time to get that blood back on the upwards track and sleep and being a hermit should help! I was pretty down on Monday after seeing a drop in my Neuts and WBC and then today I said to Dr. Wong, should I be worried? He said no, not yet. It's still early and we have a few months yet before he is going to get worried. Still, it's tough when I am so fixated on the numbers and they go the damn wrong way!! Anyway, the kids are good and it's going to be so hot here this weekend I think we are going to the outdoor neighbourhood pool. We've never taken Jorja so I'm sure she'll love it...I was up at 5:30 on Tuesday am to get her into her YMCA swim class so she's super excited to get back to lessons! Rowen said "bum-bum" and "ba-ba" the other day and yesterday he started saying, "da-da-da" all day long...I gave him a spanking...;) It's sooooo cute to hear him chat! He also got his first tooth finally and we are using an antifungal on his bum rash now...it's gotten better but wow, was it bad!
I'll keep you posted on next week's numbers but in the words of Dr. Wong, "let's not fixate on numbers yet Vicki"!!
HGB-98
Plts-35
WBC-1.8
No neut numbers were back from the lab when I left.

It's mid-August?!

The World Water Ski Championships at Predator Bay water ski club.
Hanging out with momma showing off her gum...mmm...
So damn cute at Predator Bay!
Cousin Wadeums trying to impress Jorja; totally didn't work.
Jorja's new best friend Lisa taught her the wheelbarrow and gave mom and dad a break! Wadeums DOES have great friends! :)
Jo being a good sport while Jorja takes pix of her eyes, etc.
Jo took this of Rowen on Thursday...he was literally so relaxed like this for 10 minutes, to funny!
Jorja LOVES taking pictures, great shot of Rowen's baby blues!
What a goof!!
I thought he looked like such a big boy in his rugby shirt and his hair all grown back! My boy!
I'm 7 months old today!
Where the hell did the time go?! Wow, being in the hospital all summer sure has distorted my time frame of reference this year...I can't believe that it's the middle of August already.
Scott and I just celebrated our 6th, that's right 6th, anniversary...wow. Of course, we did nothing but exchange, "happy anniversary"s!! Oh well, I expect big things for us next year. :)
My baby boy is finally feeling better in the cold area but still has a really red bum rash...poor guy, just won't get those teeth! He flips over so much and tonight was screaming bloody murder and when I went in, he was sideways, flipped over and had his arms through one side of the bars and legs through the other...poor babe was traumatized with his new found freedom! He also said his first word/words yesterday..."bum-bum" or "ba-ba". Not sure what EXACTLY he is referring to, but man, he loves saying it! He sits for long periods by himself and rolls around and is starting to get his butt up and legs pushing....he's so much further along than Jorja was at this age. She was just to fat to move!! Man, she was a great sleeper though. :) Not that he's not...sleeps 7-7!!
Jorja has just started back at the dayhome today from a nearly 2.5 week break! I think Scott and I were both relieved a bit, is that wrong?! Joanne Schafer and the whole Booth clan were in town for the Lion King this weekend and took Jorja yesterday for the whole day to Calaway Park...thanks to her and the Karen Booth family for giving my girl a GREAT day!! Jorja told me she loves "Joy-yanne" a little bit but not as much as me or dad...but she loves her a little bit...too cute!!
I did a huge day on Friday, which I paid for all weekend. The World Waterski championships were held out at Predator Bay, which is Scott's water ski club. Joanne was here sans kids so her, I, Jorja and Scott headed out for the day. Let me tell you that the 7 hour day was a little much for me but I am so glad I went! The jumping was cool and I couldn't believe how good the skiing etc. was. Jorja had SUCH a great time and loves to do things with just me and dad...so cute! She was an angel that day, thank God, as I was swollen for two days after...we had a great time!
I was at the hospital all day yesterday, just like I have been every Monday since I was released...it seems to take forever to get my blood results back and then I have to get platelets and THEN blood...God! So, not much progress in the making blood area but Dr. Wong said things should start happening soon as it's been almost 2 months since I started treatment.
Here is what I'm sure you are all waiting for:
HGB: 80 (hence needing blood!)
Platelets: 15 (see above)
WBC: 2.0
Neutrophils: 0.6
So there you have it...I am going to attach pix of our latest escapades as soon as they download!
Donate blood and platelets people!!
Love, Vic

The days roll along...

Hey all! We went to the lake on Saturday for a night but I wasn't feeling to great by Sunday afternoon so we came home. There was a huge storm Saturday night and I thought a tornado was coming for sure...Scott and JJ were across the lake at Patti and Dale's so it was just Jett, me and Rowen! I was a little nervous to say the least so I took Rowen and Jett to the basement! Everything was fine though, only some big branches on the lawn etc. and some stuff off our bbq was blown off...anyway, it's hard not to jump to tornado conclusions at Pine Lake! I went to the doc yesterday and it was a freaking all day event AGAIN. So tired of going and spending the damn day there waiting for hours for blood etc. I needed platelets and blood as I was REALLY low.
My hemaglobin was 75, platelets were 7, WBC went down a little bit to 2.2 and my neuts went down to .5 so I needed lots of blood! I go back tomorrow so hopefully things will be a bit more stable again.
The kids are doing good; Jorja is over her cold but Rowen's is still kinda bad. Poor boy has a runny nose, and a cough and of course, the worst case of diaper rash! His bum actually bled in spots and he screams when we change him...aww!!!!!! it's slowly getting better but still bad. He is totally teething as well and I hope he gets one soon, poor babe!!
I feel much better today because of the blood so that's great. Scott and JJ are off to the wave pool asap so I better get my butt in gear! Wish me luck with the blood numbers!! xo
